What a year!
Wow! What a year we have had at Ascot School of Dance! Students worked very hard toward their RAD ballet exams and received great results with a general lift in marks across the board. We then leapt straight into the CSTD Jazz, Tap, Musical Theatre and Ballet exams with stunning results! One of our students impressed the examiner so much she was asked to demonstrate on the new CSTD Ballet DVD!
Students attended RAD and CSTD workshops throughout the year, which are always, not only beneficial, but heaps of fun too!
Some students performed at the 85th CSTD Dance Convention at QPAC this year and then attended the special workshops on the same weekend with some of the industries finest.
We welcomed David Power from the Queensland Ballet Company to share his love of dance. David conducted a class for our students and gave many insights into the life of a professional dancer.
Our Performance Group embarked on the Eisteddfod trail this year with such enthusiasm and did really well despite being up against some very experienced and larger, older groups.... and they had fun! A few students decided to attempt solos and duos and placed every time - despite being their first attempt!
Students also spread the 'community' spirit by dancing at Aged Care facilities around Brisbane. This was such a lovely experience for them and brought great joy to the residents, many of whom have restricted mobility, so to be able to share our love of dance was very special.
One of our senior students shared her love of dance with little people at daycare - who were sooo excited to see a 'real' ballet dancer!
Huge congrats to Emma who gained a place at QUT in the Bachelor of Fine Arts (Dance Performance) program. There were only 16 students accepted so we are immensely proud of Emma's dedication and hard work to reach her goal.
The year culminated with Concert 2018! What a blast! Everybody worked very hard and presented a fantastic show that they can all be proud of. Well done!
We are now on holidays but I look forward to welcoming everybody back in 2019 for another wonderful year of dance!
