Class Descriptions
Ascot School of Dance offers a wide variety of dance classes including Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Musical Theatre, Pom Dance and PBT.
RAD "Silver Swans' ballet classes are specifically designed for the 'mature' dancer. Come along and enjoy not only the benefits of a wonderful form of exercise in an inclusive and supportive environment but also the added benefit of a fabulous social cohort!
* Baby Ballerinas 2 - 3 yo For the youngest dancer in your life
* Itty Bitty Ballerinas 3 - 4 yo A little more challenging
*Prep classes - approx. 4-5yo - an extension of the pre-prep class adding further challenges
*Combo - aimed at students in grade 1 at school - Students are introduced to ballet, tap and jazz giving them an appreciation of the main dance genres
*RAD ballet - established in 1920 this is an internationally recognised standard of ballet and character work
*Comdance Jazz - students gain strength and flexibility while improving their technique to fun, popular music
*Comdance Tap - a chance to develop performance technique through rhythm and dynamics
*Comdance Musical Theatre - sing, dance, act - learn about all the most famous musicals through a recently developed syllabus
Progressing Ballet Technique - this innovative training technique using a fitball assists students to learn the importance of correct posture, weight placement and core strength and which muscle groups achieve this - an essential aid for classical ballet. Ages nine plus.
Pom Dance - An exciting and innovative movement genre using pom poms - but far more intricate than cheerleading
*Exams are offered for all of these genres - the only stipulation is that any student wishing to do an RAD ballet exam, must do two ballet classes per week.
NB: For students who have completed the "combo" class in 2020, you now have the choice of separate classes, ie; ballet, tap, jazz, musical theatre. Do one class or all of them! The classes generally dovetail together, eg; your ballet level will adjoin your tap or jazz class.
